Goat Problems

Sorry I didn't blog over the weekend, I was so busy with father's day.

There is a goat at the barn I keep my horse at now. She was only staying for a few days. She was on a chain outside the barn where she can get in the barn. My horse was so freaked out by it. He was running around his stall and kicking the walls.

Yesterday the goat got moved away from the barn. When I tried to bring my horse in the barn he was still scared to death to even go in his stall. I worked with him by circling him and slowly getting him closer and closer. Then I got him to put his front feet in the stall, then I backed him out. I finally got him to go in there without him even being scared.

After I got him in the stall he wouldn't come to the front of the stall because that's where the goat was. I worked with him by getting treats and leading him closer and closer and finally got him to stick his head over the stall door into the barn aisle.

Then my aunt got the goat and brought it back in the barn. I slowly did the same thing as before and got treats and slowly brought him closer and closer to the goat.

Lastly, I took my horse out of his stall and the goat came out to the front of the barn too. I slowly made circles closer and closer to the goat. He finally got close enough to sniff the goat and follow it. I was so happy.

I hope everyone had a great father's day. Thank you for reading this weeks blog!

Until next week,
annv

Horse Racing

I am sorry I didn't blog over the weekend, I was really busy.

So what is everyone up to? This Sunday, I got to go to the horse race track. It was the first time going there in 10 months. Opening day was Saturday but I couldn't go.

It turns out that jockey Sheldon Russell stills remembers me by name. That makes me so happy. He is a really good jockey.

Who has read the sixth book? I haven't yet but I will as soon as I can.

Sorry it's short but I have exams to study for.

Till next week,

Trail Riding Fun!

No knew news this week, sorry. But I am going to tell you about something.

I went for a benefit trail ride for the Mounted Police. The place I rode at was breath taking. There were a bunch of ponds you could let your horse drink in. There was a covered bridge to cross. The trail were wide enough for 2 horses to go side by side. There weren't any holes or stumps on the trails so you could pretty much gallop, except that it was very hilly.

There was a beautiful creek to cross that was wide enough to let your horse stand in the middle and drink. There were a bunch of fields with a trail around the outside to gallop. My horse wished he could have, he was pulling on me the whole time. But he was a very good boy other than that.

I wonder what the trail are like at Timber Ridge? I always love going trail riding at new places and enjoying the scenery. I bet Kate and Holly would love trail riding at different places too.

Well, that's all for this week, until next week,
Annv

Relatable

Have you ever wanted to ride a horse that you weren't aloud to like Kate with Buccaner? I have, there was this one horse named Rex at my barn. He was my trainer's show horse but she taught lessons on him. I never got to ride him before she sold him.

Have you ever had an experience with fire? I have multiple times that i already told you about. If i had to deal with a situation like Kate and Holly i would probably freak out.

I better get off the computer now. I just wanted to write a short blog before i had to go since i hadn't blogged in a while. I am getting severe weather were i live and there are possible tornados. Hope all of you have a great weekend!

Racing Into Trouble: Fire

In Racing Into Trouble, there is a big fire that was caused by bad wiring. Holly had to force herself to walk to save herself and Buccaneer. After that she can walk.

I have had some scary encounters with fire. One time, i was on the way home with my mom and I saw a lot of smoke kind of close to my house and I told my mom. We went driving around trying to find it and when we did it was 250 yards through the woods from my house. The wind was blowing towards our house to my mom called the fire department really frantically.

What happened was the real estate agent was trying to sell the house and they were burning some pallets. It was a windy day and they left before the fire was completely out and it caught a shed on fire.

So, after my mom called the fire department, we rushed home and she left me outside watching for flames and smoke to be coming through the woods while she was inside gathering photos in case we had to leave.

Everything was fine; the fire department put the fire out. My dad went over there one day to meet the people that had moved in and now she is my riding instructor. A near tragedy turned into good!

Another time, my mom was talking to my dad and forgot the grease on the stove. It caught on fire and we were frantically trying to put it out. I was crying because a house fire is my biggest fear.

Have an awesome Saturday everyone!

Story!

A young lady emailed me her story and gave me permission to post it on here:
One time, she was riding a bay mare. She was cantering down the right side of the paddock and the horse swerved in and she kept going. She jumped off and landed on her feet.Everyone was clapping for her. Then her trainer said she was the most graceful faller she had ever seen.

If you have any stories you want to share with everyone, comment or email me.

Yesterday, I went to the barn to help out and ride. Some of my friends were there and she got a bag of frosted flakes. We all chased her into the feed room and tackled each other for some. The horses were standing there watching us thinking we were crazy.
I had to ride a little pony named Little Man because he needed someone experienced to ride him so he wouldn't refuse the jumps or poles. I was cantering  and had to trot to fix my lead. He tripped really badly and fell and I did a summer sault off of him. He fell so badly, he was laying down. I was lucky my leg didn't get pinned. I got right up and made sure he was okay. We were both okay but it's kind of funny that I did a summer sault off him. My trainer said he was probably being lazy and didn't pick up his feet.

Story Time

I thought we could share our barn stories on here. It would be a cool way for all of us to talk about horses and the books. Comment or email me your story and I will write it in a blog post.

I remember when i was 8, I had wanted to start riding so badly. One day i went to the barn i was going to be riding at and the lady said "We're going to get you in here sweety, you've been waiting a long time."

When my first lesson came around, i was excited and scared because I was so shy. Luckily, my cousin was there. because she also rode there also, and was able to help me. I rode a little shetland pony named Beauty. I walked and trotted around, but she was so lazy! I had a lot of fun though and have been riding ever since, and now I am 14.

I look forward to hearing y'alls stories.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for visiting the blog. I really appriciate it. Check back often for more updates. Please comment your opinion.

I had a young lady ask about how to keep calm in the show ring. My advice would be to relax and pretend it's a lesson. Also ask your trainer what else to do. Remember, horse's can sense how you're feeling, so if you're nervous, they will get nervous.

I had another young lady ask about how to calm down a horse that likes to kick. Again, I would ask your trainer. Be sure to stay away from there back end though.

If anyone has any questions please email me: annavitale@mail.com  if you want me to keep your question private, please say so in your email. Thank you!

Welcome!!

Hi! I am so excited to do this blog.

I just wanted to let you know first off, that I am not the author of Timber Rdige Riders, Maggie, but I am a reader of these books and she has given me permission to write this blog. Also, some of the stuff I will put on here will come straight from her.

I will start with a little about me.

I have a 20 year old Throughbred/Quarter Horse mix. He is almost black and has quite a personality. I have been riding for 6 years and do Jumpers. I also love to fox hunt ( you animal lover's out there, don't worry, we don't actually hurt the fox). I am an only child and live in the woods (don't worry, I have a house! Haha). I feel so lucky because I am surrounded by nature all of the time. I live on a family farm in Virginia. I love reading books about horse's, they are my favorite types of books.

Now on to a little about the Timber Ridge Rider series (no spoilers, sorry).

The first book: Keeping Secrets follows fourteen year old Kate McGregor to Timber Ridge stables as she looks for a job helping Holly Chapman. Holly is in a wheel chair (read to find out why). But a job is not the only thing Kate McGregor get's. Kate has a past that she wants to keep a secret, will she be able to? Find out in Keeping Secrets. Available at www.amazon.com or for any eReader. Find out more about the series at  http://timberridgeriders.com/.

If you have any questions please email me at annavitale@mail.com.
